Opening Weekend at the Castle

Happy Thanksgiving! We are grateful for the support of the community, our friends, and families throughout the process of building this dream. On Friday we open our doors to the public, and we could not be more excited to share this special place with you!

Below you can find a complete schedule of events, and here is our list of ten things you should know about Opening Weekend at the Castle:

  1. Who are we?

The Castle Community team is a group of friends with strong roots in Rochester and a passion to make our growing community better. Through travel, experiences, dreaming, and scheming, we have brought multiple concepts together under one historic roof to provide a welcoming, eclectic, creative space for the community to explore, connect, and enjoy their time. This project is our passion, and we look forward to sharing it. We can’t wait to meet you!

  2. Dining & Drinks

Cameo at the Castle will be open for service at 3pm daily. Cameo offers an fine dining in a comfortable atmosphere in their bar, lounge, and dining room. The flavors of Cameo are influenced by cultures around the world, while still having Midwestern appeal. The menu will feature technique-driven dishes created with quality, responsibly sourced ingredients. Reservations for parties of 5 or fewer can be made on Open Table. Visit cameoatthecastle.com for menu and additional information.

For events on the third floor, Cameo will provide complete food and beverage service, including a cash bar for opening weekend.

Queen City Coffee & Juice will offer a full craft coffee menu, cold-pressed juice, grab-and-go food options in collaboration with Cameo, house made drinking vinegars, syrups, and kombucha. Queen City will open upon completion of the second floor, but will be offering beverages during Opening Weekend events.

  3. Admission

Admission to the building is always free, and with the exception of our Inaugural Concert, there is no charge to attend our opening weekend festivities.

  4. Shopping
When construction is complete on the second floor, the Castle will be home to Collective Books & Records, Neon Green Studio, and artist studios offering art and other merchandise from local makers. In the meantime, we will be hosting pop-up retail events on the third floor, including our Pop-up Artist Market on Saturday and Sunday of opening weekend. These handmade items, local artists’ work, and gift certificates for Castle Community tenants make great holiday gifts!

  5. Parking

The lot directly to the north of the building is now a public parking lot with a combination of 90-minute, 4-hour, and 10-hour metered spaces, and parking in that lot is free on evenings and weekends! We are also a two-block walk from the Center Street ramp and there is ample street parking nearby, especially near Central Park on First Avenue NW.

  6. Music

We are thrilled to provide a state-of-the-art venue for performances of all kinds. Our professional sound system and production crew will provide an exceptional experience for musicians and audiences alike. We are so excited to welcome our friends Six Mile Grove to the stage for our inaugural concert on Saturday, November 24 with special guests Miles Nielsen & the Rusted Hearts and Les Fields and the Turkey River All Stars. Tickets are available at mytowmymusic.com, and at the door while they last.

  7. Families

The Castle welcomes everyone to enjoy our space! Supervised children are welcome at Cameo, in the commons, second floor retail spaces, and during most public events. We plan to host several family-oriented events and offer special Castle Kids promotions when the second floor commons and retail spaces are complete.

  8. Accessibility

The Castle is fully accessible with elevator access to all three floors. If you need additional assistance, please contact us prior to your visit and we will do our very best to accommodate.

  9. What is open and what comes next?

If you want to be among the first to learn about our progress, follow our progress on social media or sign up to receive email announcements.

  10. Get Involved

We encourage you to contact us if you’d like to get involved in happenings at the Castle! Whether you are an artist looking for studio space, a musician interested in performing in our venue, a volunteer for the community bookstore, or someone with an idea for an event or program in our space, we would love to meet and learn more about you!

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you soon at the Castle!
